With the change of the seasons, egg production has been kicked into gear. Our 200 chickens and 100 ducks are producing about thirteen dozen eggs a day. With our abundance of eggs, we have been working hard to build our regular client base. We have a stand on our front porch but wanted to step it up a notch.
Greg used five feed pallets and some other scraps around and created an egg hutch. We placed it on the edge of our property at the end of Goodtime Road. That way, people do not need to come to the front porch. They can just pull up next to the hutch in the county turnaround, grab, and go.
There is a cash slot built into the hutch, and we have an easy-scan Venmo account. It’s a simple honor system. We put doors on the two shelves that will have eggs to keep any unwanted animals out. The bottom shelf has room for baskets in the future to hold veggies when our garden is overflowing, and the top shelf will work well for signage and misc.
We hope you come by, check it out and tell your friends about it.
